Jessica’s Story
A little over two years ago, as I was beginning my first year of law school, I went through a period of crippling depression in a delayed response to a college friend's suicide. A few months later, I was diagnosed with OCD, Depression, and what my psychiatrist called "a touch of PTSD." I started regular therapy and medication and it changed my life. I am happier, healthier, and better equipped to handle life than I have ever been. I still have my days when life seems overwhelming, when I can feel depression and anxiety lurking in the back of my mind, but I'm living my life, and that's what is important. My motto is, "just because I have a mental illness does not make me bananas." I'm a person, not a diagnosis.
